Nick Koudis

Ironic Death #1, Seat Belt Distraction

Photographed by Nick Koudis at http://www.koudis.com/portfolio/index.htm

This composite has a landscape of a mountain and a closeup of car on a dangerous road, where it shows the car going off the cliff because the driver got distrated trying to put on the seat belt and she didnt notice the sign dangerous curve. This type of photograph will be hard to take in real life unless you have a great amount of money to create such scene just for one picture.
Sometimes the client wants something different and strange that will catch the attention of the customers and also a composite image is more flexible because it could be edited to communicate the message clearly by adding the neccesary elements. The manipulation can communicate fictional themes where your imagination could take you with no limits or boundaries such as surrealism, thats what straight photograph is not totally capable of communicating.

Late night at Verrazano Bridge

This is compelling photograh because the Light of the bridge is reflected on the water. There is a great contrast between the color of the water where the area that the light is reflected becomes bright green and the side are almost black. At regular daylight we wont be able to see such green tone or such a great contrast.

Ground Zero at night time

Joel Meyerowitz photograph

http://www.joelmeyerowitz.com/photography/book_aftermath.asp
This photo was taken at night with front light which emphazises the remaining parts of the twin towers that appears to me that those buildings were burning no long ago because the edges of the pieces look rusty because of the brown color and the hazy gray fog surrounding the remaning parts. I remember several pictures taken at the same spot but in different angles at daytime, i just thought its only a broken building but when i saw this photograph it made me think about the horrible fire that made that building colapse along with the numerous victims traped inside those flames.

Architectural point of view

Usually when a person walks around the street first think it notice is the color, the lines and patterns are what draw the people eye in. Then they focus their whole attention in analyzing the structure such as the style, design, size and materials is made of. One of the most common thing people look for is the resemblace between the architectural piece with common objects. For example the Guggenheime museum part of the facility is round which most people says it looks like a coffee cup.

Architectural Photography

Architectural photographs represent new perspectives on buildings and the built environment. The purpose of the architectural image is to capture the feeling of walking by the structure, whether is the view of the entire building or just part of it.
